Lygon Street

I am sometimes wondering where I would really like to live in Melbourne. I am quite attracted by Clifton Hill but I find it a tiny bit too far from the city centre and the CBD is a bit too expensive. St Kilda is an appealing option but I am always charmed by Lygon Street in Carlton. I particularly like the atmosphere surrounding this area. The choice of restaurants (mostly Italians) is great, there is a nice little French Deli (selling mostly pâtés and charcuterie), you are spoilt for choice when it comes to supermarkets and convenience stores, a shopping mall houses a Borders as well as a big arthouse-orientated cinema and my favourite bookstore – Readings – also sits on that street.
